Privacy policy

Emanuele Macri is the data controller for this site. For anything on this page, write to hello@emanuelemacri.it.

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. To deliver each page and keep the service secure, Vercel’s servers handle technical data about every request: your IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser’s user agent. Vercel keeps this data only as long as it needs it to run and protect the service.

The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running a website that works and is secure (Article 6(1)⁠(f) GDPR).

Visits are counted with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and saves nothing on your device. Visitors are told apart by a hash of the request, which is discarded after 24 hours. What I see is aggregated: pages viewed, referring site, country, browser, operating system and type of device. None of it can identify you.

The legal basis is my legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used (Article 6(1)⁠(f) GDPR). If you block the statistics with a content blocker, the site works exactly the same.

The site saves one thing on your device, and only when you ask for it. If you press “Motion off” or “Motion on” in the footer, your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage under the name background-motion, so the background stays as you left it next time. It holds only the word “on” or “off”, never leaves your browser and you can remove it at any time from your browser settings. Because it only serves a feature you ask for, it needs no consent.

If you write to hello@emanuelemacri.it, I receive your address and whatever you choose to share, and I use it only to reply. The legal basis is your request (Article 6(1)⁠(b) GDPR). Messages are stored with my email provider, Aruba S.p.A., in Italy, for as long as the conversation needs a follow-up, and deleted when you ask.

Vercel Inc. handles the hosting and statistics data on my behalf. It is based in the United States and certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognises as ensuring an adequate level of protection (Article 45 GDPR). Fonts are served from this site, so your browser makes no requests to Google or other third parties.

No data is sold, used for advertising or profiling, or used to make automated decisions about you.

You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable format (Articles 15 to 21 GDPR), by writing to hello@emanuelemacri.it. Visitor statistics can’t be linked to you, so a request can only cover data that can, such as your emails.

You can also complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, or to the authority of the country where you live or work.
